About Amy
Yosmali
Amy Yosmali, Artist
Amy Yosmali, a native of Greater Cincinnati has been an
art lover all her life, but it wasn’t until 2001 that she
began to explore the visual arts, especially painting, as
a medium of self-expression. While her initial artistic
endeavors were in music, she now considers herself both a
student and practitioner of the visual arts, especially
contemporary abstract art. In her work as a professional
Web designer and Computer Instructor, she strives to
successfully combine the utilitarian aspects of art with
the purely aesthetic. Amy sells her art and maintains a
studio at Essex Studios in Cincinnati, where she continues
to experiment with new forms and techniques.
Artist Statement

As a contemporary
abstract artist, I feel that my passion for expressing
myself emotionally is best conveyed through the imagery
resulting from the instrumentation of colors, brushstrokes
and movement on the blank canvas before me. Vibrant colors
and action are important features of my art and I like to
incorporate acrylics with metallic qualities to add depth,
dimension and movement to my works. Much like a musician
reacts to her surroundings and the moment, resulting in
certain musical elements standing out and connecting with
the audience – my paintings react to the nuances of their
surrounding environments, inviting the viewer to connect
with an ever changing perspective to the complexity of
this expression.

Amy Yosmali, Computer Instructor & Web Designer
Amy Yosmali loves teaching. In particular she enjoys
the ah-ha moments, and the empowerment that she can help
give others. That joy along with her extensive
background in technology was what drew her into working
as Computer Instructor. Amy has over 10 years of
experience as a Computer Instructor and Training
Manager. She has subcontracted as an Adjunct Instructor
at two of the area’s leading computer based training
companies. She primarily teaches classes to adults who
are pursuing their Microsoft Office Certification, as
well as several other applications. She also is
experienced in teaching children as well.
Amy firmly believes in providing a positive and
informative teaching environment for students of all
ages.
Amy is also an experienced web designer and web
usability assessor. She began designing websites in
1997 and continues to do so presently. Amy feels that
Web Design is a great way for her to combine her
artistic skills and interests with her extensive
technology background.
As a strong believer in supporting small organizations
and businesses, she believes that her keen artistic eye
combined with her experience and knowledge help bring
affordable solutions to small business/organization, and
individuals marketing or technical education needs.
Teaching Philosophy
I find teaching to be very meaningful work in that it
helps enable others to accomplish their goals and
improve their lives through valuable learning
experiences.
I teach courses in
Microsoft Office applications, Web Design, and
accounting applications such as QuickBooks and
Peachtree.
I have experience in teaching all ages and social
economic backgrounds - young students, executives, and
adults transitioning in their careers. Each student has
their own unique learning style, one of my greatest
strengths is my ability to reach and connect with
students in a way that enables them to learn.
My objectives are for students to take these learning
experiences and apply them in their work and daily
lives. These skills can assist them in searching for and
obtaining new jobs, or to improve their skills for their
present career path.
I work in a variety of
teaching environments, which include but not limited to
one-on-one, small group, and large group instruction.
As each student is a unique learner, so is each class’s
environment. I feel that it is important to remain
flexible in my teaching so as to present my instruction
in the most effective manner. One of my greatest
strengths is my ability to adapt to a teaching
environment on the fly based on my ability to read my
students and their ability to engage in the present
learning situation. I firmly believe there is a way to
engage everyone without sacrificing the learning
experience of one or many.
In general my classes consist of a combination of
lecture, demonstration, visual aids, and hands on class
activities that reinforce the topic and lecture
materials covered. In particular, I try to structure the
class activities around practical real world examples
that students may encounter. Students have the
opportunity to gain additional experience through
activities and lab assignments that they can do
individually during supervised labs or at home.
